Kelly woke up, brown eyes blinking awake, hair a mess, and with the baby in pregnant belly kicking her bladder.  That sent her flying for the bathroom.  After finishing her business, Kelly returned to the bedroom and looked out at Todd, who was currently face down in the pillow.  She smiled, grabbed a nearby t-shirt and pulled it on over her tank top.

She walked out into the living room.  Early morning sunlight flowed through the window. Kelly sighed.  Baby was kicking and squirming, making it hard to find a comfortable position on the couch.  She settled for staying up.  Mornings were easy for Kelly; she hadn't been a night person since her high school years and when she had started college, she made a complete reversal.  This came about because her favorite classes were often scheduled first thing in the morning.

It carried on after her graduation and into today.  She sat on the couch, her smooth legs tucked up beneath her.  Her belly rolled out from her stomach, big and round.  Kelly sighed, finding the book in her hands dense and uninteresting. She put it down next to the stack of X-Men comics and He-Man action figures.

Her gaze turned to the huge bookshelves that dominated the living room's northern wall.  DVDs, books, comics.  In these early hours, Kelly looked at them all and felt a pang of self-doubt.  All of her life, she wanted to be a writer. Since her Dad would read to her as a little girl, Kelly dreamed of writing books.  She stared at that great wall of written works and felt jealous of each and every one of them.  Even the TV writers.

As she got older and so many other things started dominate her life, Kelly began to feel like she wouldn't have a book of her own on the shelf – or anyone's shelf, for that matter.  That her dreams of being a published writer were as fruitless as seeing her toes right now.

Kelly pushed herself up.  She hated that feeling.  That helpless, hopeless feeling of loss and frustration.

She grabbed her laptop from her desk and plopped down in her favorite comfy chair.  Baby must have gone to sleep because the wild kicks and punches had calmed down.  Once comfortable, Kelly got on-line.  She wanted a distraction . . . to distance herself from this bullshit . . .

She stumbled on an old account she had created.  It was for a website called DeviantArt.  Todd had talked her into joining.  Kelly hadn't put anything on there except for a story she had had published in her college LitMag.  It was her only publication and she considered it to be her best story so far.

Kelly logged in for shits and giggles (and also to figure out what the hell 'Deppslash' was and why a lot of it required her to be signed in).  She was stunned to find 500 messages waiting for her.

People watching her page, waiting for more up-dates.  People faving her story.  People commenting on her story.  People commenting on her page.  Some of it was spam, of course, but for the most part, it was 500 people actually interested in her and her work.

Kelly smiled and looked to the window.  Outside, the early days of spring were bringing a sense of warmth and renewal to the world.  She herself felt a little better.

Smirking, she put her legs up and started to respond.  'I should probably start up-dating more.  Maybe people might want to see my belly pics?'

Kelly then rolled her eyes. 'Who want to see those?'
My original plan was to do a big ass, elaborate picture in celebration of both my 500th deviation and my five years being on this terrific site.

Well . . . that didn't quite work out because my computer died again. So, while there is still a big-ass pic in the works, I figured I'd put up something short and sweet for Deviation 500.

So here we have a Kelly story. Just something short.

I appreciate all the faves, watchs, and commenters. You guys keep me going! Onward and upward!
